Storage and Dosing Plant for Powdered Activated Carbon
Powdered activated carbon (PAC) is used in wastewater cleaning, especially where the elimination / reduction of anthropogenous substance traces is concerned. Here precise dosing is essential to ensure safe and economic operation. Furthermore PAC is used in the potable water field, especially where surface water extraction to eliminate / reduce unwanted substances in water, e.g. algae, dyes etc.
Another area of application is the injection of PAC into the flue gas flow of power plants or waste-to-energy plants. Dioxines, furans and notably heavy metals will be adsorbed by the PAC. The removal of mercury is on one of the top topics of the global environmental policy.
Our expertise in building powdered activated carbon plants for storage and dosing uses can benefit you by offering you a tailored plant design to suit your specific needs.
Powdered Activated Carbon Dosing Plant
Our powdered activated carbon dosing plant convey a precisely dosed quantity of product to the desired place. A differential proportioning weigher system makes precise dosing even of the smallest quantities feasible.
The powdered activated carbon is conveyed from the storage device (silo or big bags) by a rotary feeder to the dosing unit. From there it is conveyed by a fine dosing worm conveyor into a wetting funnel and hence flushed via a water jet pumpto the injection point. The dosing unit consists of a differential dosing scale (weighed storage container) and a fine dosing worm conveyor. The storage tank is filled automatically via a rotary feeder. Very high dosing precision is thus feasible.
No Standard Solution
We consider tailored design extremely important and design our plant to suit your specific needs.
Powdered activated carbon has special characteristics that need to be taken into account when designing and constructing a dosing plant for powdered activated carbon. The absorbent is very abrasive, promotes corrosion and has a tendency towards adhesion and compaction. Furthermore, powdered activated carbon is an explosive substance that falls under the ATEX directive.
