New construction of a lime slaking plant for waste water treatment for KRONOS Leverkusen, the world's largest manufacturer of titanium dioxide pigments.

KRONOS is a subsidiary of the US company KRONOS Worldwide Inc. from Dallas. The production site in Leverkusen was founded in 1927 and is located directly on the Rhine between Cologne and Düsseldorf. The plant covers a production area of more than 100,000 m2 and has a TiO2 production capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year using the sulphate process and 165,000 tonnes per year using the chloride process. KRONOS Leverkusen is by far the highest-volume and most versatile TiO2 production plant in Europe.

  • Complete plant designed according to the safety standard of the chemical industry (highest SIL level, redundant design of measuring devices, etc.)
  • Silo discharge via fluidisation using air loosening boxes and side channel compressor
  • Capacity: 2,100 kg CaO/h per line
