New construction of a silo system with gravimetric dosing, suspension tank and dosing pumps for powdered activated carbon

The waste water treatment plant in Herisau cleans the waste water of 94% of the population of Herisau. After a number of investments, the treatment plant can now also remove tiny contaminants (so-called micro-pollutants).

Year of execution: 2014

Characteristics and special features:

  • In accordance with the new Water Protection Ordinance in Switzerland, 100 wastewater treatment plants are to be equipped with a fourth purification stage for the elimination of trace substances.
  • We had the honour of building the first powdered activated carbon plant at a wastewater treatment plant in Switzerland
  • In order to operate three dosing points independently of each other, the PAC suspension is prepared in a tank and dosed accordingly via dosing pumps
  • PAC dosing capacity: 0 - 60 kg/h
